Practical Homeschooling Magazine's i-Learn Awards & Reader Awards
Every year, Practical Homeschooling requests reader nominations for our famous i-Learn and Reader Awards.
Our i-Learn Awards™ are for interactive curriculum: software and online.
Our Reader Awards™ are for traditional "hold it in your hands" curriculum: print (workbook, textbook, etc.), DVDs, CDs, and anything else that isn't interactive.
Once the nominations are completed, thousands of homeschoolers cast their votes for the curriculum they have used, in dozens of categories. Votes are based on satisfaction, not just on how many votes are cast for a product. Homeschoolers score products they have used from 1 (terrible) to 10 (the very best). The curricula with the highest satisfaction ratings are the winners. So you'll know our winning products are those your fellow homeschoolers LOVE!
Our two Awards issues are the best and only way to easily find out what thousands of your fellow homeschoolers actually recommend as "the best" in all these curriculum categories, from their own experience:
This year, the 2023 Reader Awards were published in our Summer issue (pictured), and included the following categories:

Testimonials
“Our family is in our 5th year of homeschooling. I grab the latest issue of PHS as soon as it arrives at our local library. Thanks for all the informative articles. I especially love ‘A Day at Our House.'”
“I love PHS! Living in a small town so far from a large city PHS is my source of encouragement!! I always seem to read something that was just what I needed to hear. I hate it when I get to the last page!”
“I love the product reviews which often are true critical reviews. I am glad that you publish the con’s of some products rather than only publishing positive reviews. Knowing both strengths and weaknesses of a product, book, or curriculum is important.”
“I absolutely love PHS! It is the definitive magazine for homeschoolers. I eagerly await each issue and devour it, from cover to cover, the day it arrives in my mailbox.”
“Before my children were born, my husband and I began investigating homeschooling. One of the resources we used was PHS. Now that we are homeschoolers of two lovely boys, we keep on reading PHS to stay informed. PHS is our favorite resource.”
“As a new home school Mom. I am looking forward to seeing the change in my children. I hope to read more from people like yourselves. It makes me feel like I have a family that connected all over the country.”
“Before my husband and I married, he told me he wanted to homeschool our future children. I found PHS when our eldest was 3. Now, 3 years later, I am still so grateful for PHS! It has opened many vistas for me, and for our homeschooling family.”
“I subscribed to PHS when it was only an option to homeschool. Now it is a way of life. Thank you for the ideas, encouragement, and Christian guidance. We look forward to every issue and I use them as reference frequently. God bless the staff at PHS!”
“Practical Homeschooling is my favorite magazine! I count on the articles about how others schedule their day. It gives me so many ideas as there are times when I just run out of creativity.”
“I love this magazine. Whenever I get discouraged or just need inspiration your magazine is there to refresh. It is a wonderful source of encouragement and provides great resources out there. Thank you PHS!”
